Our goal has always been simple, create a platform for as many, local cyclists as possible to ride their bikes.

The VB cycling community enables our members to meet like-minded people, who can lean on each other for advice, company and friendship, on and off the bike. This is why we put so much effort into organising social rides and events.

Cycling can really improve our physical health, but it can also have an amazing, positive impact on mental well-being – especially when we ride with others!

Riding with others can increase our motivation to get outside and can help us push ourselves to go further or faster than we would alone.

But perhaps more importantly, it provides a sense of camaraderie, which in turn can help relieve the stresses daily life chucks at us. This is the premise of the VB community.

Be a Part of the Team

We do our utmost to accommodate and provide opportunity for everyone, no matter their cycling ability. We have dedicated social rides, training rides, women only rides and just under two years ago, started our very own race team.

Since 2021 we have been encouraging riders from all walks of life and backgrounds, to give racing a go, with the help and support of all of us at VB. However, you do not need to race to join Team VB! You will still have access to all of the training sessions, rides, support network and team kit as those who do race.

Women’s Cycling

One of our main objectives is to open doors to lesser represented groups within the sport. Cycling has many barriers to participation, particularly if you are a woman. Traditionally a male-dominated sport, the opportunities for women are significantly less. In the last 3 years we have put on monthly ‘ladies only’ rides, created a supportive women’s race team and organised women’s races with equal prize money and support. In June of 2023 we put on possibly the only event in the country which had two separate women’s races in a single night and our women’s team is arguably at present, the highest ranked amateur team in the country. These are all achievements we are extremely proud of.

VB Membership

Our brand new shop in Milford is scheduled to open very soon, and so as of October 2023 you can officially become a VB member, and experience some amazing perks! We want to continue to grow the local community we have created, by offering more incentive to shop local and more opportunity to get involved and meet like-minded people on social/training rides, at races and events.

We are a dedicated community business and believe we have so much to offer by bringing more people together. The timing has never been better for us to increase our offering alongside the new shop which has loads of space for social events, and a huge car park (you’ll be pleased to know).

The annual subscription of £100 will be payable to Velo Bavarian (in store or via the British Cycling website) before the end of January. You can pay from October 2023 and membership will expire on the 31st December 2024 giving you 3 months for free. Once paid you can place your pre-order using the kit order forms which will be emailed out once you have applied, below.

• Pre-order before 1 November for January 2024 delivery (1st DROP) – recommended for those wanting to race.
• Pre-order before 1 January for March 2024 delivery (2nd DROP)

Further Info on Racing for VB

Club members who wish to race may do so in either the NEW 2024 skinsuit or the 2024 jersey and shorts. The designated team helmet for 2024 will be white in colour and whilst some may wish to purchase the VB official Kask helmet, in order to keep costs to a minimum we are happy for riders to race in their own white or black helmets should they possess one.

Racing members will be responsible once they have paid their subscription to VB to order the kit they require and if racing notify British Cycling that their primary club is Velo Bavarian, from January 2024. You will not be able to ride for VB until your membership has been paid.

Velo Bavarian is dedicated to providing opportunity, guidance and support for all riders who come our way.
